Game Report: Blackhawks 1, Blues 0

Jake Allen played his best game of the season Wednesday night, but could not get the win.

Allen stopped all 18 shots from the Blackhawks but was unable to stop one by his own teammate. The only goal of the game in Chicago came when a shot deflected off the skate of Blues’ defenseman Jay Bouwmeester into the net.

Both Allen and Bouwmeester returned to the Blues’ lineup after missing the last three games, but this time it was the Blues’ offense which took the night off.

Corey Crawford stopped all 28 shots by the Blues as the Blackhawks snapped an eight-game losing streak and won for the first time since firing coach Joel Quenneville last week.

The only goal of the game was credited to Blackhawks’ defenseman Brent Seabrook at 4:05 of the second period. The power-play goal came while Vladimir Tarasenko was serving a minor hooking penalty.

It was the first time the Blues were shut out in Chicago since Jan. 24, 2016, a 2-0 loss. It was the first time the Blues lost 1-0 in Chicago since Nov. 12, 1992.

The loss dropped the Blues’ record within the Central Division to 1-4-3.

Looking ahead: The game was the opener of a three-game road trip for the Blues which will continue with a game Friday night in Las Vegas against the Golden Knights before a Saturday night in San Jose.
