Game Report: Blues 4, Capitals 1
The Blues have won three consecutive games for the first time this season.
David Perron’s goal capped a three-goal flurry in a 4:42 span in the second period which carried the Blues to the win over the Capitals Monday night in Washington, D.C.
The goal extended Perron’s streak to 11 consecutive games with a goal or an assist, the longest by a Blues’ player since Alexander Steen scored at least one point in 13 consecutive games in 2013.
The win also allowed the Blues to climb back to the .500 mark for the season with a 20-20-4 record. It’s the first time they have been at .500 since Nov. 16.
The Blues trailed 1-0 after the first period before Ivan Barbishev tied the game 3:18 into the second period. A shot by Vince Dunn deflected off a Capitals player at 5:11 to put the Blues ahead, and Perron’s 16th goal of the season at 8:00 capped the outburst.
Vladimir Tarasenko added a power-play goal in the third period. Ryan O’Reilly had two assists for the Blues while Dunn added an assist to go along with his goal.
Jake Allen stopped 29 of 29 Washington shots, giving up only a power-play goal by Alex Ovechkin, which came with Dunn in the penalty box.
Looking ahead: The Blues will be in New York on Tuesday night to play the Islanders, trying to extend their winning streak to four consecutive games.
