Game Report: Blues 4, Wild 0
Another win, and another shutout, earned the Blues a spot in the record book on Sunday.
Jordan Binnington made 31 saves and Vladimir Tarasenko had a goal and two assists to lead the Blues to their 10th consecutive win, tying a franchise record set in 2002.
It was the third consecutive shutout by the Blues, two of which came with Binnington in goal. The rookie is now 12-1-1 in the start to his NHL career and extended his personal winning streak to eight games.
The Blues became the first team in the NHL to post three consecutive shutouts on the road, scoring three or more goals in each game, since the Coyotes in 2004.
The win also was the eighth in a row by the Blues on the road, the second longest road winning streak in franchise history. They won 10 consecutive road games in 2000.
Tarasenko’s 26th goal and two assists extended his streak to 12 consecutive games with at least one point. He has scored 11 goals and added 11 assists during his career-high streak.
The Blues have out-scored their opponents 40-14 during their 10-game winning streak, which ties the longest streak in the NHL this season.
Ryan O’Reilly, Brayden Schenn and Vince Dunn also scored for the Blues. The goal by O’Reilly was his 22nd of the season and came on a power play late in the first period to increase the Blues’ lead to 2-0. Tarasenko’s goal also came on a power play in the opening period.
Looking ahead: The Blues will try to set the record for the longest winning streak in team history on Tuesday night, when they host the Toronto Maple Leafs.
