Perron still showing why he should earn spot in All-Star game as Blues break losing streak

David Perron is certainly doing all he can to earn a spot in the NHL All-Star game.

Perron scored his team-leading 18th goal on Tuesday night as the Blues broke a three-game losing streak with a 3-2 win over the San Jose Sharks at Enterprise Center.

Perron is one of the candidates for the final spot on the Central division roster in the game, to be decided in fan voting. Already named to the game, which will be played in St. Louis, were Alex Pietrangelo, Ryan O’Reilly and Jordan Binnington.

The goal by Perron 4:07 into the third period gave them a 3-1 lead and provided the insurance they needed for the win after a late goal by the Sharks. Perron broke a tie with Brayden Schenn for the most goals on the team.

The Blues took a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals by Tyler Bozak and Ivan Barbashev before the Sharks cut the lead to 2-1 with a power-play goal early in the third period.

The win came in the opener of a five-game homestand for the Blues, who will host the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday night.
