Game Report: Blues 4, Ducks 2

In what might have been their last game for a while, the Blues defeated the Ducks 4-2 on Wednesday night in Anaheim.

Neither the coaches or players know for certain if the NHL season is about to be suspended because of the coronavirus pandemic. The NBA suspended its season on Wednesday night after a player on the Utah Jazz tested positive for the illness.

The NHL released a statement saying it was continuing to monitor the situation and expected to have an update on Thursday. The NCAA announced on Wednesday that its games in the upcoming basketball tournament will be closed to the general public.

The Blues are off on Thursday and scheduled to resume practice on Friday before their scheduled game at home that night against the San Jose Sharks.

Wednesday night’s game was the makeup for the game which was postponed when defenseman Jay Bouwmeester collapsed on the bench after a cardiac episode in the first period.

That game was tied 1-1 and that was the score when the makeup game started, even though the game was replayed from the beginning. Alex Pietrangelo scored twice, his 15th and 16th goals of the season, to lead the Blues to the win.

Jake Allen made 36 saves in goal to get the win.
