Local interest athletes who will be participating in the Olympics in Tokyo

The opening ceremony for the Tokyo Summer Olympics  is scheduled for July 23 at 6 a.m. CT.  The competitions begin on Friday, July 23, and to until Sunday, Aug. 8.

Locally in St. Louis, the Olympics will be shown on KSDK– the NBC affiliate. For more information CLICK HERE.

Bradley Beal (basketball) –Hometown: St. Louis, Mo.– UPDATE: Beal will not be participating due to positive COVID-1 9 test.

Jayson Tatum (basketball). Hometown: St. Louis, Mo.

Napheesa Collier (basketball) Hometown: O’Fallon, Mo.

Tyler Downs (diving)Hometown: Ballwin, Mo.

Becky Sauerbrunn (soccer) Hometown: St. Louis, Mo.

Gwen Berry (track and field- hammer throw)- Hometown: St. Louis, Mo.

DeAnna Price (track and field- hammer throw) Hometown: Moscow Mills, Mo.

Michelle Bartsch (volleyball) Hometown: Collinsville, IL  (Michelle played volleyball at University of Illinois. Incredibly, Kelsey Card and Michelle are related.  Fun fact: She is the daughter in law of Julie and Michael Bartsch, whose daughter Michelle Bartsch- Hackley made the Women’s Olympic Volleyball team.
