Monkeys and goat stop by Busch Stadium; find out about the graphic artist who is going viral for his creations

In the fan spotlight are the monkeys and goat that are on the loose in St. Louis. In case you didn’t know about it, there are four monkeys and a goat on the loose in St. Louis –and while people are spotting them and taking photos of them, they are “on the lamb.”

One glance at social media today and scrollers will see various comical photos of what appears to be a group of four monkeys traveling with a goat to various tourist spots in St. Louis. The creator behind the series involving the monkeys and goat as shown above is Derick Walton of Malden, Mo.

” When I heard about the monkeys, I started with them,” said Walton. “Then when  I heard the goat was loose, I figured I’d put them meeting up and hanging out. Pretty soon they were going on tour around the city together.”

Walton owns D. Walton Graphic Design,  in Malden, Missouri, and he is having some fun with it– and going viral at the same time.We saw the Busch Stadium photo posted on Facebook and since we are Journalists we know the value of giving credit where credit is due so we  asked if we could share it. Once Walton agreed, we started seeing others and realized he has started a campaign of “travel” photos and the general public can’t get enough of it.

Walton, shown in the photo, left with former Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright is a big Cardinals fan.

“I have a love for the Cardinals that runs deep,” said the former resident of St. Louis who moved back to his hometown of Malden. “Baseball has always been a big part of my life. I played high school baseball,  coached by Gary Blaylock, whose father Gary Blaylock Sr., was our pitching coach. He had played professionally for both the St. Louis Cardinals and the New York Yankees.”

Blaylock, Sr. helped his son with the youth league baseball team, serving as the pitching coach.

“That was my first personal brush with the Cardinals– and learning from him was an honor.”

Walton’s love for the Cardinals may have been the reason he had the  monkeys and goat  stop at Busch Stadium for a selfie.

“I spent many years living in St. Louis, and some of my favorite memories come from that time,” Walton said. “Every summer when my son came to visit, we made it a tradition to head down to Busch Stadium to watch the Cardinals play.”

Walton is like many Cardinals fans, who for them them Cardinals baseball provided a backdrop to their life.

“Those trips created memories that will last a lifetime,” he said. “I’ve since moved back home to the Missouri Bootheel, so I don’t get to St. Louis as often as I once did. Still, I was able to make it back last year—and walking through the gates again felt like stepping into baseball heaven.”

D. Walton Graphics does custom logos and graphic designs for schools, companies and personal designs

“We do uplifting brands with integrity and impact,” says Walton. Saying they exist “to enhance company logos and visual designs with clarity, creativity, and precision—so that businesses shine brighter.”

Though he does not get to see as many games in person as he would like to, he keeps up with the team and watches games on TV. He says, his love for the Cardinals started early and that there is nothing quite like it.

“If you grow up in Missouri, Cardinal baseball is more than a team—it’s part of your roots. Watching the Cardinals in the 1980s was something truly magical, and those seasons left a lasting impression on me.

With the recent attention to his company we are sure he will be getting some requests for more than just logos and branding.

“I channel that same passion and creativity into my work through D Walton Graphic Design.”
