As October approaches, Cardinals fans are disappointed that they will not be seeing their team in the post-season. But at least you can read about some of the exciting times from the past in a book that is being re-introduced with new information. Sports historian Robert L. Tiemann and broadcaster Ron Jacober have updated and added to their book, Immortal Moments in Cardinals History.
“Reedy Press approached me and Bob Tiemann to write the first Immortal Moments book in 2016,” said Jacober. “Bob is an incredible researcher. A lot has happened between now and then, so it’s the perfect time for a second Edition.”
For more than a century, the St. Louis Cardinals have given their fans a succession of memories and milestones, and Immortal Moments in Cardinals History, is a collection of Cardinals highlights, that revives the greatest moments in franchise history, from the forgotten victories of four consecutive pennant winners in the 1880s to the present. The cavalcade of names and milestones rolls along on every page.
Highlights include:
•3,000 hits for Lou Brock and Stan the Man
•October heroics by Pepper Martin, Jim Edmonds, and David Freese
•Home run feats by Albert Pujols, Mark McGwire, and Mark Whiten
•No-hitters by Jess Haines, Paul Dean, and Bob Forsch
•Achievements of superstars like Enos Slaughter, Rogers Hornsby,
and Yadier Molina
•Shining moments of lesser stars like Tom Lawless, Glenn Brummer, and Fernando Tatis
•This updated edition includes all-new accounts of Carpenter’s 2018 slugfest in Chicago, Yadi’s 2019 playoff heroics, Albert’s historic career finish in 2022, and more.
Compiled by leading Cardinals historian Tiemann with former Cardinals broadcaster Jacober, the book reflects decades of reasearch. Their work receives a complement of rare and action-packed photos. The result is a fun ride through Cardinals history that will delight and inform generations of fans.
“This book is the perfect holiday gift for any Cardinals fan,” said Jacober. “We hope to meet you at one of our book events to personalize a book for you or a loved one.”
