LEADOFF QUICK HITTERS

FRIDAY, MAY 8, 2026

Jordan Walker doubled and scored on a triple by Masyn Winn in the seventh inning on Thursday night to snap a 1-1 tie and give the Cardinals a win over the Padres in the opener of a four-game series in San Diego. Alec Burleson's homer accounted for the Cardinals' first run.

Matthew Liberatore got the win, allowing only the one run on three hits over six innings. Riley O'Brien earned his 11th save. The Cardinals are now 12-5 on the road to begin this season.

Michael McGreevy will get the start on Friday night.
