Mother’s Day is almost here. While there are lots of options out there to choose from, I’ve made my short list of places offering a different take on the unusual Mother’s Day brunch. Places with inspired menus and interesting locations in addition to a couple of non-brunch picks designed to make mom and the entire family happy. Our pics range from traditional restaurants like Cafe La Vie, to catering venues like Orlando’s on Hoffmeister, to Moonrise Hotel and even Clementines Ice Cream.
Whether you are a mother, you are treating a mother, or you once had a mother– we hope you enjoy the weekend.
Moonrise Hotel

If you love mom to the moon and back, do I have a place for you. Take her to brunch at the Moonrise Hotel in The Delmar Loop neighborhood. Considered as landmark on the loop is serving a Mother’s Day buffet brunch on Sunday, May 11 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. On the menu look for Eggs Benedict, omelets, breakfast burritos and Banana Foster French Toast.
Before or after brunch, take mom on a tour with the kids to view Moonrise’s amazing collection of moon-related objects, including an actual moon rock. Take mom to the rooftop terrace bar where the world’s largest man-made revolving moon sits atop the hotel. A perfect place to sip libations while drinking in the view.
Picnic in the Park
If a traditional brunch isn’t what mom is looking for, how about picnicking in the park? Another offering to consider is Moonrise’s Backpack Picnics. On Mother’s Day and beyond the backpack picnics are available every day. Perfect for hopping on the Loop Trolley and enjoying a lovely outdoor meal in Forest Park, the backpacks can be filled with a custom-created meal. Clementine’s

This Mother’s Day flowers are lovely, brunch is nice but I’m craving ice cream. There’s no better way to say “I love you, Mom” than with a pint (or six) of handcrafted ice cream of Clementine’s new flavors. Spring inspired flavors include Key Lime Pie, Front Porch Mint Chip, Honey Lavendar, Amaretto Sour, and in honor of its tenth anniversary, Birthday Cake. A flavor to celebrate on its own, which laces with vanilla cake bites through white chocolate ganache and finished with sprinkles. Available at any of the eight Clementine’s ice cream shops.
