Baseball Tutorials: Learn a new hobby– make a latch hook baseball

Another installment of Baseball Tutorials. This time is a little difference, we are focusing on the hobby of latch hook. It’s a great little hobby for boys or girls, adults or kids.  To see the tutorial, click the video player below.

    1. Fold the yarn on the tool: Fold a piece of yarn in half to form a loop. Place the loop over the hook, keeping the latch open. In the video, he calls the latch a “door” so keep the door open at first.
    2. Then use the tool on the mesh frame: Insert the tool under the horizontal bar of the canvas grid.
    3. Closing the door and making the knot: Place the yarn ends into the hook, and pull the tool back. The latch (door) will close automatically as you pull it through the loop. This is what hooks the yarn to the mesh.
    4. Tighten: Pull the tool and the door will close. Tug on the yarn ends to tighten the knot firmly around the canvas. Some people like to work from right to left, and from bottom to top, typically following a pattern chart, however as you can see in the video it is just the choice of the person doing it.
    5. Remember it’s just a hobby, and hobbies are fun, so don’t get frustrated. Keep trying until you get it and latch hook can provide hours of fun and relaxation.
