The site was started in 2012 by sports writer / author Rob Rains and Sally Tippett Rains, a former sports reporter / producer for KMOX Radio in St. Louis.

The site was started as a supplement to a radio show Rob Rains and his son, BJ Rains did in St. Louis in 2012 but it quickly grew beyond expectations and when the show ended due to station format change, the advertisers were all asked if they wanted to stay on and most did.  In 2024, Rob Rains’ other son, Mike Rains joined the staff.
