LEADOFF QUICK HITTERS

MONDAY, MAY 29, 2023

The Cardinals suffered a 4-3 walk-off loss to the Guardians on Sunday in Cleveland after Ryan Helsley could not pitch around back-to-back walks with a one-run lead in the ninth, allowing both runners to score on a two-out double by Jose Ramirez. All of the Cardinals' runs came on solo homers in the fifth inning, from Alec Burleson, Andrew Knizner and Paul Goldschmidt.

Adam Wainwright will get the start today as the Cardinals return home for a brief two-game series against the Royals.
