More on our Spring Training Party: Thursday March 12
Rob Rains and STLSportsPage.com have an annual Spring Training Bash Party and if you are going to Spring Training you won’t want to miss it!.
The party features Rob and Mike Rains, the hosts of “Rains on the Cardinals” Podcast interviewing their special guests. The guests are usually announced a week before the event. This year we will be joined by Mike Trim, morning anchor of WPTV News, who is originally from Hermann, MO and has relatives from St. Louis so he is a Cardinals fan.
Rob Rains’ Baseball Bash is free to attend and has a silent auction with fun Cardinals items. The silent auction benefits Rainbows for Kids in St. Louis and Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Palm Beach.
Guests usually get a chance to meet the speical guests and get photos or autographs, with a donation jar sitting nearby. The event is totally free to attend, but the players are donating their time for the charitable causes so be sure to check out the silent auction and donation jar.
Each year, the party– sponsored in party by Homewood Suites PBG– features a sports roundtable discussion about the Cardinals. Along with the player or other celebrity guests, food like hamburgers, hot dogs and drinks are served at no charge to those who RSVP.
If you plan to go, please let us know by emailing:

If the Homewood Suites is full: We recommend Best Western West Palm Beach
The Homewood Suites Palm Beach Gardens is our Spring Training Headquarters and sponsor hotel, but it is so popular it might be full.
They are #11 out of 43 Hotels listed on Tripadvisor for West Palm Beach. Call Rick Netzel of the Sales Department (561) 683-8810 and identify that you are from “Rob Rains’ STL Sports Page” and he will take care of you.
Some of our favorite things besides baseball:
- We recently went on a Pontiki inlet cruise (shown left). It was pricey ($60) but a two-hour boat ride around Jupiter Inlet with drinks included in the price. Sunset cruise was worth the price. https://www.pontiki.com/pontiki-home
- Mini Golf at Light House Cove: 1145 Main St, Jupiter, FL 33458. (561) 268-2717
- The Jupiter Lighthouse is a beautiful sight whether you visit in the day or night.
-
Loggerhead Turtle Sanctuary: Address: 14200 U.S. Hwy 1, Juno Beach, FL 33408 Phone: (561) 627-8280 It’s a fun stop and a must-see; a short stop but educational. Kids of all ages will enjoy seeing the turtles they are trying to rescue and then release after they are well.
-
Great breakfast or brunch– Juno Beach Cafe. 13967 US Highway 1, Juno Beach, FL 33408-1631 It’s open until 2 in the afternoon so if you stay at Homewood Suites you could eat their great breakfast in the morning and then go here for “lunch” they have a full menu with lunch items also.
-
The Pier– and the Beach- Juno Beach- Address: 14775 U.S. Hwy 1, Juno Beach, FL 33408
Juno Beach is the closest beach to the Homewood Suits-PBG. The Pier is above the entrance to the beach and people fish off the pier or just enjoy the sighGo to the beach! Juno Beach is where we usually go. It’s a straight shot up Donald Ross Rd. from the Hoewood Suites Palm Beach Gardens and then a left on US Highway 1: 4775 U.S. Highway 1. Juno Beach, Florida 33408.
Where Should you Go to Dinner?
There are several good restaurants in the Donald Ross Shops area next to Homewood Suites. It’s a nice stroll and you can choose the one you like. They range from an outdoor Italian restaurant to a sports bar to a pizza place.
Fun Restaurants on the Water
Blue Point- 1203 Town Center Dr, Jupiter, FL 33458
Guanbanas- 960 N Hwy A1A, Jupiter, FL 33477
Square Grouper-1111 Love St, Jupiter, FL 33477
If the other restaurants are too crowded try the Square Grouper. It’s generally not as crowded as the family crowd can’t go there– they don’t allow children. It’s on the water and you can see the Jupiter Lighthouse from your table. There are tiki torches and thatch roofs. Great Florida Atmosphere. The “Fish and Chips” features grouper and it was delicious.
Breakfast-
Juno Beach Cafe-13967 US-1, Juno Beach, FL 33408
Hole in the Wall- but a great Florida hot spot
Dune Dogs-
Sports Bar-
Our favorite sports bar is Duffy’s. There are several locations around the Jupiter Area. Great food and lots of TVs to watch the NCAA Basketball Tournament
Before or After the Cardinals Games-
Jumby Bay- In the neighborhood across from the stadium (Abacoa) 1203 Town Center Dr #101, Jupiter, FL 33458
Stadium Grille- (Abacoa)- 1203 Town Center Dr, Jupiter, FL 33458

SPRING TRAINING ARCHIVES
A look at some of our fun parties… For many years we have been having special Spring Training Bash Parties which benefitted charity– Rainbows for Kids and Leukemia Society of Palm Beach
Photo from the 2022 Baseball Bash: Ricky Horton

Ricky Horton was our guest of honor in 2022 at the Annual Rob Rains’ STLSportsPage.com Spring Training Charity Party
It was great to have people back in a safe, outdoor setting at the Homewood Suites. Be sure to find out when our 2023 party will be before you make your plans for Spring Training so you can join the fun!

Photos from the 2020 Baseball Bash:
This may have been the last “party” or large crowd gathering you attended for at least a year if you were there. It was held on March 12, 2020 and just as it was about to start we received word that MLB had cancelled the remainder part of Spring Training– due to the start of the COVID-19 closings.

The day the 2020 Baseball Bash was the day of the last Spring Training game. We had a player scheduled and due to “circumstances beyond their control” he could not attend. There was a great, enthusiastic crowd and the fans had a fun time despite what was happening.
Photos from the 2019 Bash: Daniel Ponce de Leon

For the past several years The Homewood Suites has teamed up with STLSportspage.com to put on a charity event which benefits Rainbows for Kids in St. Louis and Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Palm Beach. The event is free of charge and open to all fans of STLSportsPage.com and any guests staying at the Homewood Suites. Carson Kelly was the guest last year, shown in photo with Mike Trim of WPTV News in West Palm Beach and Rob Rains.

The Spring Training Charity Bash features free food and drink as well as a silent auction, but the highlight of the event has always been a player from the St. Louis Cardinals who attends and entertains on a sports panel with Trim and Rains.

Trim, a Cardinals fan, originally from Hermann, MO is a television anchor and always donates his time to do the panel with Rob Rains of STLSportsPage.com. The photo, above, right is the 2017 event featuring Aledmys Diaz.
After the panel discussion there was a barbecue and the Cardinals fans got to eat hamburgers and hot dogs.

The best part of the party is raising money for two great charities. Proceeds from the Baseball Bash are divided between the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Palm Beach and Rainbows for Kids in St. Louis. Tyler Hammond, shown in photo below was a member of Rainbows for Kids when he was a child. He had multiple organ transplants, but was able to participate on the Rainbows for Kids Baseball Team and all the activities designed for families with children in treatment. He has now graduated from college and is a volunteer with the organization. He is shown in the picture with Daniel Ponce de Leon.

Plan a trip to Spring Training and join us at the party!

Rob Rains and Chris Geisz, broadcasting “live” on 1380
The first “Baseball Bash” was held in 2013 and it was the only one that was not at the Homewood Suites. It was up the sidewalk at an outdoor restaurant that was called “The Burger Bar.” At the time Rob Rains, B.J. Rains and Chris Geisz were doing “The Sports Zone” Radio Show on 1380 and did a “live” broadcast from the party. If anyone has a photo with Trevor Rosenthal in it from that event, please email it to: Rains@STLSportsPage.com.
