LEADOFF QUICK HITTERS

THURSDAY, MARCH 19, 2026 

Minor-leaguer Tai Peete homered to break a 1-1 tie in the eighth inning and Ramon Mendoza added a two-run shot to give the Cardinals a 4-1 win over the Astros on Wednesday in Jupiter. Kyle Leahy worked five scoreless innings.

The Cardinals optioned Richard Fitts to Memphis before the game and later made the official announcement that Matthew Liberatore will get the start on opening day next Thursday against Tampa Bay at Busch Stadium.

Gordon Graceffo will start a bullpen game today against the Nationals. The spring prospects breakout game will follow that game
