SUNDAY, JULY 5, 2026

JJ Wetherholt hit the first pitch of the game for a home run and Kyle Leahy worked five scoreless innings as the Cardinals shut out the Cubs 3-0 on Saturday night at Wrigley Field in a game that was delayed twice, first by rain and then by fog. Wetherholt had a three-hit night and in his firdt five games against the Cubs he has gone 10-of-22 plus walking twice and being hit by a pitch.

Matthew Liberatore will get the start today as the Cardinals try to complete a sweep of the series. First pitch is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. and the game will be exclusively televised by Peacock.
