LEADOFF QUICK HITTERS

FRIDAY, MAY 20,  2022

Pete Alonso's two-run homer off Giovanny Gallegos in the 10th inning on Thursday gave the Mets a 7-6 walkoff win over the Cardinals in New York. Paul Goldschmidt had four RBIs for the Cardinals, who tied the game in the ninth and had taken a lead in the top of the 10th.

The Cardinals are calling up top prospects, and childhood friends, Nolan Gorman and Matthew Liberatore from Triple A Memphis. Gorman will start at second base on Friday night while Liberatore will make his debut when he starts Saturday night's game in Pittsburgh.

Adam Wainwright will start the series opener tonight. The game will be broadcast on Apple TV.
