LEADOFF QUICK HITTERS

MONDAY, JUNE 22, 2026

The Cardinals scored a season-high 12 runs on a season-high 16 hits, including four home runs, but it almost wasn't enough the defeat the Royals on Sunday in Kansas City. The Royals scored twice in the ninth and had the potential tying run on second base with one out before Riley O'Brien secured the 12-10 victory.

JJ Wetherholt hit two of the homers for the Cardinals, including his second leadoff homer, and Masyn Winn and Ivan Herrera added three-run homer. Dustin May was pulled after the second inning, allowing six runs.

The Cardinals return home tonight to begin a four-game series against the Diamondbacks. Andre Pallante will get the start as Nolan Arenado returns for the first time since he was traded to Arizona.
