Game Report: Bruins 5, Blues 2

The Blues allowed three goals in the third period and ended their four-game road trip with a loss Thursday night in Boston.

After taking a 2-1 lead on a goal by Carl Gunnarsson at 13:36 of the second period, the Blues saw their former captain, David Backes, score on a power play two minutes later to tie the game.

The Bruins broke the tie in the third period with three unanswered goals, including the final one into an empty net. Jake Allen was in goal for the Blues and stopped 22 of 26 Boston shots.

Ryan O’Reilly scored the other goal for the Blues, his 17th of the season, in the first period.

After opening the trip with back to back wins, the Blues finished the trip with a 2-1-1 record, losing on Tuesday night in overtime against the islanders.

Looking ahead: The Blues return to Enterprise Center to play their only home game in the span of a month on Saturday night, hosting the Ottawa Senators.
