Game Report: Kings 4, Blues 3

Game Report: Kings 4, Blues 3

Taking a two-goal lead, and holding it, has proven to be hard for the Blues this season – and that was the case again on Monday in Los Angeles.

After taking a 2-0 lead in the first period, the Blues lost for the sixth time this season after once leading by two goals. They are 0-3-3 in those six games.

The early lead came on the first NHL goal by Mackenzie MacEachern and the ninth goal of the season by Oskar Sundqvist. The Kings cut the lead to 2-1 before the end of the period, then scored the next two goals to take a 3-2 lead going into the third period.

The Blues have won only once this season when trailing after two periods but had a chance after a power-play goal by Ryan O’Reilly tied the game six minutes into the final period. It was his team-leading 18th goal of the year. The hope was short-lived, however, when the Kings broke the tie four minutes later.

Jordan Binnington was in goal for the Blues, allowing the four goals on 29 shots.

Looking ahead: The Blues have one game remaining before the All-Star break, on Wednesday night in Anaheim.
