Game Report: Blues 3, Devils 2 (overtime)

The next week will tell how important Vince Dunn’s goal was for the Blues on Saturday night.

Dunn scored with only three seconds left in overtime to give the Blues a win over the Devils in New Jersey, picking up a valuable second point in their pursuit of one of the top two spots in the Central Division.

The win left the Blues with 92 points, two behind both Winnipeg and Nashville, tied for first with 94 points. The Blues have four games left in the regular season, one more than the Predators and the same as the Jets.

The win improved the Blues; record to 27-10-4 since Jan. 1, when they had the fewest points in the NHL. They clinched a spot in the playoffs on Friday night.

The Blues’ other goals came from Robert Thomas in the first period and Tyler Bozak in the second period, Jake Allen was in the nets, saving 25 of the Devils’ 27 shots.

Looking ahead: Three of the Blues final four games next week will be at home, beginning on Monday night against Colorado.
