Thursday’s Game Report: Blues 6, Senators 4

Ryan O’Reilly capped a four-goal third period with an empty-net goal as the Blues rallied to defeat the Senators on Thursday night in Ottawa.

The Blues trailed 3-2 entering the third period but rallied on goals from Jay Bouwmeester, Brayden Schenn and David Perron before O’Reilly scored his first goal of the season.

O’Reilly also assisted on three goals to record his first four-point game since joining the Blues.

Perron scored twice, with Oskar Sundqvist scoring the other St. Louis goal in the second period.

The Blues improved to 3-0-1 on the season, with two of the wins coming in games they trailed entering the third period. Last season, they were just 2-23-6 in the regular season in games when they were losing after the second period.

Jake Allen, playing his first game of the season, stopped 25 shots to earn his 137th career win with the Blues, tying Curtis Joseph for second all-time in franchise history behind Mike Liut’s 151 career wins.

The Blues will play their third consecutive game on Saturday, taking on the Canadiens in Montreal.
