Luckily for the Blues, Jordan Binnington has not had many nights like Saturday night.
For the first time in his NHL career, Binnington was pulled from a game after allowing four goals in the first 12:57 of the opening period as the Blues fell 5-2 to the Toronto Maple Leafs at Enterprise Center.
Binnington also was the losing goalie in the Blues’ previous game, making this the first time in his career he has lost consecutive games in regulation. Jake Allen replaced Binnington and allowed one goal over the final 2 ½ periods.
The score was tied 1-1 before Binnington gave up three goals in a span of 6:06 as the Maple Leafs took a 4-1 lead at the end of the first period.
The Blues’ first goal came from Ivan Barbashev and David Perron also scored in the third period. The loss ended the Blues’ seven-game winning streak against Toronto.
The Blues’ next game will be Tuesday night in Buffalo.
