Game Report: Sabres 5, Blues 2

The timing of the goals by the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday night could not have been any worse for the Blues.

The Sabres scored their first goal 18 seconds into the game, scored again with just nine seconds left in the second period and broke a 2-2 tie on a goal just 1:54 after the Blues had scored the tying goal in the third period.

Two empty-net goals in the closing minute clinched the win in Buffalo as the Blues lost their third consecutive game in regulation, the first time that has happened this season.

Alex Pietrangelo’s 100th goal as a member of the Blues tied the game 2-2 early in the third period before the Sabres capitalized on a defensive mistake by the Blues to retake the lead.

Jake Allen was in goal for the Blues and suffered his first loss in regulation in eight starts on the road this season, having gone 5-0-2 in his first seven games.

Troy Brouwer scored the first goal of the game for the Blues, his first since rejoining the team.

The Blues return home to host the Las Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday night at Enterprise Center.
