Barbashev, Binnington lead Blues past Devils to snap five-game winless streak

The Blues ended their five-game winless streak on Tuesday night thanks to two goals from Ivan Barbishev and a shutout performance from goalie Jordan Binnington.

The two led the Blues to a 3-0 win over the New Jersey Devils at Enterprise Center, moving two points ahead of Dallas for first place in the Central Division.

The game was scoreless until the middle of the second period when Barbishev scored his first goal of the game. He scored again in the third period before the Jaden Schwartz capped the scoring with his 19th goal of the season.

Binnington had to make only 17 saves in recording his seventh career shutout. The Blues out-shot the Devils 39-17 and were a perfect 3-of-3 on the penalty kill.

The Blues will host the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday night.

NOTES: The Blues traded two draft picks to Montreal on Tuesday for defenseman Marco Scandella. Scandella, 29, began this season with Buffalo after starting his career with Minnesota … The Blues placed defenseman Jay Bouwmeester on long term injured reserve.
