Tyler O'Neill homered in both games of the doubleheader as the Cardinals beat the Cubs 8-5 and 12-4 on Friday, tying the franchise record of 14 consecutive wins set in 1935. O'Neill;s homers and one from Paul Goldschmidt moved both of them to pass the 30-homer mark for the season. The Cardinals hit eight homers in the two games, five coming in game two, including two from Lars Nootbaar.

Dakota Hudson made his return four days shy of the one-year anniversary of undergoing Tommy John surgery to get the win in game two, pitching 3 2/3 innings in relief of starter Jack Flaherty, working on a very limited pitch count.

Former Cub Jon Lester will get the start today as the Cardinals try to break the tie for the longest winning streak in team history.
