What to do on Fourth of July 2021

Note: This article was published in 2021. There is an updated Fourth of July article elsewhere on this site.

It may be a little different but things are coming back for “Fourth of July” which in St. Louis can often stretch on for a week. The Gateway city knows how to celebrate and as we slowly come out of the pandemic there will be some events– just not as many as usual.

The Cardinals

The Cardinals will be on the road, so no games at Busch over the holiday. The team takes on the Colorado Rockies in the mile high city.

Fair St. Louis

COVID-19 continues to put a damper on the annual Fourth of July celebrations in St. Louis, but Fair St. Louis is doing what they can to bring back a little normality to the holiday. There will be a parade and fireworks but no large gathering for the annual Fair St. Louis festival.

Independence Day will be different for the second year in a row, but organizers are attempting to do what they can in view of COVID-19. There will be a parade. America’s Birthday Parade in downtown St. Louis.  It is one of the longest-running parades in the United States and starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 3rd.

The parade will march west along Market Street in Downtown St. Louis.

Along with the parade, fireworks are back in St. Louis, sponsored by Fair St. Louis and Enterprise, Edward Jones and others. They claim it will be the largest fireworks shows Fair Saint Louis has ever produced—but they want you to watch it at a safe distance—either from a local venue in St. Louis or from the comfort of your home..

Against the backdrop of the Mississippi River and the Gateway Arch, the Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular will light up the sky on Sunday, July 4th at approximately 9:40 p.m. with patriotic music as well as current hits,

The parade will be Louis and broadcast live on KMOV Channel 4.

The fireworks will be  broadcast live on iHeart Radio’s local stations 93.7 The Bull, 103.3 KLOU and Z107.7 and streaming live at KMOV.com and on the KMOV app. The final minutes of the show will also be broadcast live on KMOV Channel 4 at 10 p.m. FOX 2 will also be carrying the fireworks.

Fair Saint Louis hopes spectators will enjoy the fireworks show wherever they can safely view it, including by streaming live at home with their families or by watching from downtown restaurants and hotels in support of local businesses.
