Special Olympics Spring Games are this Saturday at Westminster Christian Academy in St. Louis

Special Olympics Missouri is hosting the 47th annual St. Louis Area Spring Games this Saturday, May 7th at Westminster Christian Academy.  This event is a qualifying track and field and swim meet for nearly 250 registered Special Olympics athletes in and around the St. Louis Area as they prepare for State Summer Games in Columbia, Missouri.

An Opening Ceremony is scheduled from 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM at Westminster Christian Academy, rain or shine.  Law Enforcement officers from across the community will participate in a Torch Run to kick off the games.  Athletes will compete until 2:30 PM in a variety of running, jumping, throwing and swimming events.  Athletes also have the opportunity to participate in “Healthy Smiles” dental and “FunFitness” wellness screenings in between their competition events as a part of Special Olympics Health Athletes Programs.
