March 14 is “314 Day” –a day that celebrates all things STL

There is suddenly a lot going on in St. Louis—and we can celebrate on our own special day: March 14, or just using the numbers, It’s 3-14!  Scroll down to see Cardinals tickets for $3.14 today only- 3-14-23!

To many March 14 is “Pi Day”—the day to celebrate that March is month three and 314 is the start of that mathematical number we all learn in grade school.  Pi Day is celebrated worldwide The Greek symbol for Pi “π” is the symbol used in math to represent the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter — which is approximately 3.14159.

Now there is a group in St. Louis—specifically the area code of 314 who want to change the name of Pi Day to 314 Day—and celebrate all that is great about St. Louis.

The hip hop singer, Nelly has long been singing the praises of “the 314,” From his start with the St. Lunatics to every day since on his road to fame he has proudly spread the word about the Gateway City.

Explore St. Louis has always promoted the city and more recently has emerged and now there’s a full-fledged promotion called 314 Day.

The St. Louis American said, “It’s more than an area code, a hashtag, or ‘Pi Day,’ Terrell “Young Dip” Evans and Tatum Polk created the inaugural 314 Day in 2006 to spread positivity on everything St. Louis has to provide. Since launching in 2006, 314 Day has grown into a movement for people of all races and cultures. Businesses and corporations varying in size have also joined in putting their stamp on all things So St. Louis. For more: CLICK HERE

According to St. Louis Magazine, “The event picked up steam when Greater STL Inc. launched the STL Made campaign and partnered with Evans and Polk to bring in more small businesses, restaurants, and families into the celebration.” To read about that in St. Louis Magazine: CLICK HERE

A new venue is coming to the 314

 New Venue: Opening March 18– City Winery at Foundry STL
