As the Cardinals return home to Busch, fans will hear a song that has been added to the playlist at Busch Stadium.
If you have been at the stadium in 2026 you have heard “How Bad Do You Want It“ by Double G. It is being used during games and has become a heavily featured song for the St. Louis Cardinals being played during batting practice and hype moments.
Greg Myers, the hip hop artist now known as Double G is experiencing the excitement of having the Cardinals play his music at Busch Stadium. He hopes to become a front page name in the Lou, but this bout with fame is not his first time in the state of Missouri.
When he was 14 years old he made the front page of the Joplin Globe, shown left, after making a diving catch during the NABF (National Amateur Baseball Federation) World Series, who bill themselves as the oldest continuously operated national amateur baseball organization in the U.S. having started in 1914.
He never could have believed what would happen years later.
“That was my only previous trip to Missouri before the Cardinals brought me in to celebrate my music.”
The Cardinals are playing two of his songs at the stadium this year and they brought him to St. Louis so he could experience his music on the Jumbotron.
The trip which was in September of 2025, was to celebrate his music but it also coincided with his birthday. It was a family affair and they drove all night nearly 30 hours round-trip to make it happen.
“My wife Marlisa, who was pregnant at the time with our now one-month-old daughter, made the trip with me,” he told STL Sports Page. “Her father also came with us, and my mom flew in to meet us there. The journey began in Baltimore and ended with my song ‘How Bad Do You Want It’ echoing on my birthday in Busch Stadium St. Louis.”
Once they arrived in St. Louis, the Cardinals brought him into the scoreboard control room, wished him a happy birthday on the Jumbotron, and featured his music multiple times during the game.
“It feels like Missouri has somehow been part of my baseball story all along,” he said.
He has been working with Jared Haukap Manager, Scoreboard Operations & Creative Services for the St. Louis Cardinals, who showed him around in the scoreboard room.
“Jared was the first person inside the organization to really believe in my music and helped make a lot of this possible.
“Coming to St. Louis was emotional for me,” Double G told STL Sports Page. “I grew up playing baseball and played throughout college. I always dreamed of making it to the major leagues as a pitcher.”
He may not have made it on his athletic talents, but he feels like he has won his own World Series.
“Standing inside Busch Stadium on my birthday and hearing my song play live during a Cardinals game was one of the most full -circle moments of my life.”
Being surrounded by his loved ones, his mom and Marlisa, along with her dad listening to his song ringing throughout Busch Stadium– he says the feeling was surreal.
“I was standing there rapping every word to myself while my heart was racing,” he said. “It felt like I made it to the majors in a completely different way than I ever expected.”
He grew up in Baltimore and as everyone born there he was an Oriole’s fan. Being in the American League he had no connections to the Cardinals but after having the team embrace his music and his family, he has come into the fold.
“I can honestly say I am a huge Cardinals fan now,” he said. “The organization welcomed me and my family in a way I never expected, and St. Louis has shown me so much love. I have even been converting some Baltimore fans into Cardinals fans too. I bought Cardinals.TV so I can watch all the games this summer because the team is genuinely a lot of fun to watch.”
Double G knows he’s not the first rapper to embrace the Cardinals. The team’s City Connect jerseys were created in part with a nod to hometown music star Nelly.
“I am a huge Nelly, fan so seeing his name mentioned with mine definitely makes me smile.”
How did the Cardinals find out about him? He sent his tape out to all of the 30 MLB teams, and according to the artist, the Cardinals were the only organization that responded.
“They gave me a chance when I was close to giving up on music, and because of that I ended up writing a song called ‘The Lou’ specifically for St. Louis– Busch Stadium and Cardinals fans.”
Since releasing “The Lou,” the song has already been played at Busch Stadium on release night and throughout the release weekend. Cardinals fans have called it the new Cardinals anthem, and members of the scoreboard team even called it “the song of the summer.”
