LEADOFF QUICK HITTERS

SUNDAY, MARCH 1, 2026

Manager Oli Marmol has signed a contract extension through the 2028 season, the team announced today at a press conference in Jupiter, Fla. The extension also includes a club option for 2029. Marmol has managed the Cardinals for the last four seasons, and his current contract had been set to expire after this season.

On the field the Cardinals were held to just one hit, a fifth-inning single by Yohel Pozo, in a 6-1 loss to the Pirates. Konnor Griffin, their 19-year-old phenom, hit a two-run homer off Kyle Leahy.

Andre Pallante will get the start on Monday when the Cardinals play the Marlins.
