LEADOFF QUICK HITTERS

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 24, 2026

The Diamondbacks broke up a scoreless game with four runs in the ninth inning Tuesday night, including an RBI double from Nolan Arenado, then held off a rally by the Cardinals in the bottom of the inning for a 4-3 win on Tuesday night at Busch Stadium. Arenado's hit snapped Arizona's 0-of-17 streak with runners in scoring position in the first two games of the series.

The loss spoiled the best start of Kyle Leahy's career as he worked a a career-high 6 1/3 innings, shutting out the Diamondbacks on three hits.

Matthew Liberatore will get the start tonight in the third game of the series.

The Cardinals have scheduled a news conference for 1 p.m. today to announce "important news related to ownership and organizational leadership."
