LEADOFF QUICK HITTERS

THURSDAY, MARCH 26, 2026

It's Opening Day in St. Louis. The Cardinals host the Tampa Bay Rays as the regular season gets underway. First pitch is scheduled for 3:15 p.m. at Busch Stadium. Matthew Liberatore will be making his first opening day start.

On Wednesday the Cardinals placed outfielder Lars Nootbaar on the 60-day injured list while he recovers from off-season surgery on both heels. Nootbaar will be out until at least late May. The move opened  spot on the 40-man roster for JJ Wetherholt, who will make his major-league debut playing second base.
