LEADOFF QUICK HITTERS

SUNDAY, JULY 3,  2022

The Cardinals became the first team in major-league history to hit four consecutive home runs in the first inning on Saturday - two-out blasts by Nolan Arenado, Nolan Gorman, Juan Yepez and Dylan Carlson - but it took Arenado's second homer of the game in the ninth inning to give them a 7-6 win over the Phillies in Philadelphia,

It was the 11th time a team has hit four homer in a row, but the first time it had ever been done by the Cardinals in franchise history.

The Cardinals failed to hold the 5-0 lead and the game was tied at 6 when Arenado led off the ninth with his second homer of the night and 17th of the season.

Adam Wainwright will get the start  tonight in the final game of the series.
