FRIDAY, MARCH 20, 2026 

Nelson Velazquez continued his strong push for a spot on the Cardinals opening day roster with two hits, including an RBI single, in a 5-1 win over the Nationals on Thursday in Jupiter. Alec Burleson also had tw0 hits, raising his spring average to .323.

In the prospects game, the Cardinals got home runs from Joshua Baez, a two-run shot, and Ryan Mitchell in a 9-8 win over the Nationals. Tanner Franklin allowed one run over three innings and JJ Wetherholt reached base three times on two hits and a walk.

The Cardinals will play the Mets today in Port St. Lucie with Matthew Liberatore getting the start. Andre Pallante will start a minor-league game on a back field in Jupiter.
