LEADOFF QUICK HITTERS

FRIDAY, MARCH 31, 2023

The Cardinals lost a wild and crazy season-opener to the Blue Jays 10-9 on Thursday, a game which saw catcher Willson Contreras forced to leave in the eighth inning after being hit on the right knee by a pitch from Jordan Hicks. He was undergoing an MRI on Thursday night.
Jordan Walker made his major-league debut with a hit and an RBI and Tyler O'Neill tied a major-league record by homering in his fourth consecutive season-opener but the Cardinals lost the game after blowing leads in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings.
The two teams have the day off today before resuming the series on Saturday.
