Game Report: Blues 1, Jets 0

Jake Allen earned the 17th shutout of his career on Friday night but had to give a big assist to the Blues’ defense.

The Blues killed off all six power-play chances for the Jets in the game in Winnipeg plus a 6-on-5 for the final two minutes of the game after the Jets had pulled their goalie.

It was the first shutout of the season for Allen as he shut down a Winnipeg power-play unit that ranked second in the NHL coming into the game.

Allen stopped all 26 Winnipeg shots as the Blues limited the Jets’ Patrik Laine, who scored five goals the last time the two teams played, to just one shot on goal.

Colton Parayko scored the only goal on a power-play at 14:56 of the second period The goal originally was credited to Alexander Steen off a deflection of Parayko’s shot but was changed after the game.

Looking ahead: The Blues will be back at Enterprise Center for a 2 p.m. game on Sunday against the Vancouver Canucks, the opener of a four-game homestand.
