Game Report: Blues 3, Stars 1

Vladimir Tarasenko scored twice and Jordan Binnington continued his big week to lead the Blues past the Stars Saturday night in Dallas.

Binnington improved to 3-0 in his first three career starts, allowing only one goal on 22 shots. Binnington has allowed just two goals in his three wins, one of which came off a deflection from the skate of teammate Alex Pietrangelo.

Tarasenko started the scoring just 34 seconds into the game, beating St. Louis native Ben Bishop, who led the Stars past the Blues earlier this week in St. Louis.

Pat Maroon increased the lead to 2-0 midway through the first period.

The Stars cut the lead to 2-1 on a goal by Erik Condra at 8:35 of the third period. The Blues challenged the goal because of goalie interference but the goal was allowed to stand after a video review.

Tarasenko restored the two-goal lead with his second of the game on a power play at 12:38 of the third period. It was his 14th goal of the season and was his first two-goal game since Oct 27. He had scored a combined two goals in his last nine games  and just three in his last 17 games.

Oskar Sundqvist earned a pair of assists for the Blues. David Perron also had an assist to extend his streak with at least one point to 10 consecutive games.

Looking ahead: The Blues will get another chance to win three games in a row for the first time this season when the road trip continues Monday night in Washington against the Capitals.
