The Cardinals gave up a run in the bottom of the ninth and lost 7-6 to the Nationals on Friday night in West Palm Beach. Lane Thomas had two hits, including a two-run double, and drove in three runs as he raised his spring average to .500. Jack Flaherty worked three innings in a B game against the Astros.

The Cardinals have a day off today and will take on the Astros again on Sunday in Jupiter.
