Game Report: Blues 2, Canucks 1 (overtime)

The Blues should have known better than to think they could win a game in regulation on Tuesday night.

Carrying a 1-0 lead into the final four minutes of the third period, a goal by the Canucks’ Quinn Hughes with 3:35 left in regulation sent the game in Vancouver to overtime.

That has become a regular occurrence for the Blues, who – for the third consecutive game and fourth time in their last five games – won in overtime.

This time the game-winning goal came from Jaden Schwartz when the Blues found themselves on a 3-on-0 break 3:28 into overtime.

The win extended the Blues winning streak to five consecutive games and was their seventh win in their last eight games.

Until the late goal by Vancouver, Jordan Binnington had protected the 1-0 lead since Tyle Bozak scored just 3:37 into the first period. Binnington allowed only one goal on 34 shots by the Canucks.

Looking ahead: The Blues will be right back in action on Wednesday night, plahing the Oilers in Edmonton.
