Game Report: Blues 5, Jets 4 (overtime)

Four times the Blues took a one-goal lead in Winnipeg on Friday night, and four times the Jets came back to tie the game – but they couldn’t do anything about David Perron’s goal in overtime.

Perron scored his fourth overtime goal of the season on a breakaway to give the Blues the victory that matched their season-high seven-game winning streak as they returned to action following the Christmas break.

Perron became the first player in Blues history to score four overtime goals in the same regular season. Only four players in NHL history have scored more overtime goals in a season.

Tyler Bozak scored two goals for the Blues, the second putting them ahead 4-3 at 5:10 of the third period, but the Jets forced the overtime with a goal by Blake Wheeler with 1:14 to play after they pulled the goalie for an extra attacker.

Jaden Schwartz had three assists for the Blues, who also got goals from Justin Faulk and Alex Pietrangelo.

This is the second seven-game winning streak for the Blues this season, only the third time in franchise history they have had two streaks of seven consecutive wins.

The Blues improved to 18-2-3 this season against Western Conference opponents.

The two teams will meet again on Sunday afternoon in St. Louis.
