Game Report: Avalanche 5, Blues 3

The Blues apparently decided to start their bye week leading up to the All-Star game a little early.

Jordan Binnington allowed four goals on just 11 shots before being pulled from the game as the Blues lost to the Avalanche on Saturday in Colorado.

The Avalanche added an empty-net goal in the closing seconds, getting their five goals on just 19 shots. They pulled within eight points of the Blues in the Central Division. They have played one less game than the Blues.

The Blues goals came from David Perron, his team-leading 21st of the season, Alex Pietrangelo and Oskar Sundqvist. Mackenzie MacEachern had to leave the game because of a lower-body injury.

The Blues won’t play again until Jan. 27, in Vancouver. Representing the team in the All-Star game at Enterprise Center on Jan. 25 will be Perron, Pietrangelo, Ryan O’Reilly and Binnington.
