Playing their first game since Halloween, the biggest question facing the Missouri Tigers on Saturday night was whether they would be rested or rusty after the long layoff.
They got the answer pretty quick.
Connor Bazelak passed for a touchdown and Larry Rountree III ran for a touchdown to help Missouri take a 17-0 lead in the first half en route to a 17-10 win on the road at South Carolina in their first game after having two consecutive games postponed because of coronavirus issues.
They still had roster questions on Saturday night, as well, getting permission from the SEC to play the game even though they had less than 53 scholarship players available. The Tigers also were without defensive coordinator Ryan Walters, who missed the game because of contract tracing.
The defense still had a big night, however, limiting the Gamecocks to just 68 yards of total offense in the first half before giving up a field goal in the the third quarter and a touchdown in the closing minutes of the game.
Bazelak finished with 21 completions in 33 attempts for 203 yards, including the 20-yard score to Tauskie Dove. Rountree was held to 58 yards on 21 carries, including his 1-yard scoring run.
The win evened the Tigers record at 3-3. They will host Arkansas next Saturday.
