LEADOFF QUICK HITTERS

Andrew McCutchen had two hits, drove in a run and scored once in leading the Brewers to a 4-3 win over Adam Wainwright and the Cardinals on Thursday night in the opener of a four-game series at Busch Stadium. McCutchen has the second most hits by any hitter against Wainwright in his career.

Paul Goldschmidt hit his eighth homer of the year, extending his hitting streak to 17 games and his streak of reaching base by a hit or walk to 31 consecutive games. He has a .451 average during the streak with six homers.

Dakota Hudson will get the start tonight in the second game of the series.
