The Missouri Tigers were able to defeat Arkansas despite allowing 48 points a week ago because of a big game from their offense.
They weren’t able to do it again on Saturday against the Georgia Bulldogs in Columbia.
The Bulldogs ran all over Missouri, gaining 615 yards in total offense, in rolling to a 49-14 win that snapped the Tigers’ three-game winning streak.
It’s the first time Missouri has allowed 48 or more points in consecutive games since the final two games of the 1999 season.
A touchdown following a blocked punt pulled Missouri into a 14-14 tie late in the second quarter, but Georgia responded with a touchdown in the closing seconds and then outscored the Tigers 28-0 in the second half.
Missouri had only 200 total yards of offense in the game, just 22 on the ground, as Larry Rountree III was held to 16 yards on 16 carries. Connor Bazelak also struggled throwing the ball, gaining just 139 yards and throwing an interception that set up Georgia’s first touchdown.
George Pickens finished the game with five receptions for 129 yards and two touchdowns while the Bulldogs also had two running backs eclipse the 100-yard mark as they blitzed the Missouri defense for 316 yards on the ground.
The Tigers fell to 5-4 on the season. They are scheduled to play their final game of the year next Saturday at Mississippi State.
