With Rainbows for Kids, every child feels special. Wheel chair, prosthetic leg, visually or hearing impaired, developmental problems … we love them all!

Welcome to Rainbows for Kids serves all three pediatric hospitals in St. Louis: Cardinal Glennon, St. Louis Childrens, and Mercy Pediatrics. We also work with Ronald McDonald House and Camp Rainbow. We did it. We helped build a wheelchair accessible playground.

For our 20th Anniversary we wanted to do something really special so we helped fundraiser for a wheelchair accessible playground at Watson Trails Park in Sunset Hills–St. Louis. Thanks to all who donated to make this happen. The ribbon cutting was in July 2021. There are two rides a wheelchair can go on– the merry-go-round shown below and a swing. How We Got Started

Rainbows for Kids was started when a little six-year old girl named Annie was diagnosed with cancer. She and her mom, Barb sang at our first gala in 2000 and Annie was one of our best volunteers– always helping others despite her own battle. She got her angel wings at age 10– though everyone who knew her knew she was already an angel. She took many experimental treatments and hopefully because of her and others like her there is more hope every day for new cures and treatments.

We can’t cure cancer, but we can help families dealing with it have more fun together. We put on parties, events, spa days for the moms, and our most popular event each year: the All-Star Baseball Team featuring four practices and a game.

Rainbows for Kids has no paid employees so all donations go towards the fun events for the families. If there is any way we can use this website to bring attention to the need for a cure for childhood cancer and to help these families, we will do that. We appreciate your prayers for the families and for a cure for cancer.

At Rainbows for Kids, they don’t focus on what the children can’t do– we focus on what they CAN do. All kids just want to have a childhood and be carefree and have fun. Rainbows for Kids provides fun activities for the entire family.

The kids are at all stages of their medical treatments. Some are in the midst of it, some are finished with it and some have developed other medical situations due to the treatments they have taken.

Besides the children who have cancer or other serious diseases, their siblings are welcome to every activity and all the kids are treated the same.

The activities also provide a time for the parents to have friendships with others who are in the same situation that they were.

Brad Thompson Selfie at 2018 BB.jpg Every year we put on a big baseball team and All-Star game for the kids. They get to be normal kids on a summer ball team. Sometimes Cardinals players come out to play with the kids. in 2018, when we had our game at All-Star Performance, Brad Thompson came and did a selfie with the kids.

In our 2016 All-Star Game, the same week Aledmys Diaz played in the MLB All-Star Game. The then-Cardinals short stop came out and played in our Rainbows for Kids All-Star Game. He surprised the kids, pitched to them, and played catch with every child. It meant the world to the kids and their parents.
