Game Report: Blues 3, Avalanche 0

Jake Allen has not had a lot of chances to play for the Blues lately because of the emergence of Jordan Binnington, but he made the most of his opportunity on Saturday.

Allen stopped 32 shots to earn his second shutout of the season and lead the Blues to their ninth consecutive win, the second longest winning streak in franchise history.

Vladimir Tarasenko scored one goal and assisted on another as he extended his streak to 11 consecutive games with at least one point. He has 19 points in those 11 games.

The game was scoreless after two periods before Tarasenko scored his 25th goal of the year 4:01 into the third period. Zach Sanford followed with a goal just 57 seconds later to increase the lead to 2-0.

An empty-net goal from Jaden Schwartz completed the Blues scoring.

The shutout was the second in a row for the Blues following Binnington’s shutout in Arizona on Thursday night. Allen has started only two games during the Blues’ winning streak. It was his 18th career shutout.

Looking ahead: The Blues play another day game on Sunday, against the Wild in Minnesota.
