LEADOFF QUICK HITTERS

FRIDAY, MARCH 24, 2023

Cardinals manager Oli Marmol said on Thursday that Adam Wainwright will begin the regular season on the injured list. Wainwright was set to begin the final season of his career as the opening day starter before suffering a groin injury while working out before the WBC championship game on Tuesday night.
On the field the Cardinals and Yankees played to a 1-1 tie in Jupiter. It was the third consecutive tie for the Cardinals, whose only run scored on a single by Tommy Edman, one of their three hits in the game. Steven Matz also allowed three hits in his six innings, one of which was a home run.
Miles Mikolas will get his first start since the WBC tonight when the Cardinals play the Nationals in West Palm Beach.
