ROB RAINS’ SPECIAL SECTION: The games start to count on Thursday; Everything you want to know about the upcoming 2024 Cardinals season

Rob Rains and Mike Rains discuss the upcoming season:

The Big News is Victor Scott II

Tuesday we wrote on Twitter: You really have to feel for Carlson and wonder why he can’t catch a break with the Cardinals. He’s finally looked healthy with a chance to play, then gets hurt in outfield collision. Just doesn’t seem fair.

Shortly after the news came about Carlson, the Cardinals announced that Victor Scott II would be called up to start in centerfield. Scott has had a great spring and is ready for the challenge.

One of the first text messages that Victor Scott II received on Tuesday after word spread that he was being called up by the Cardinals came from Vince Coleman.

Coleman has become an unofficial advisor for Scott over the last year, and the news that Scott will be the starting center fielder for the Cardinals on Thursday in Los Angeles brought back some memories for Coleman.

Rob Rains Recapping Cardinals spring training:

From Rob Rains:

Last year, the Cardinals won the Grapefruit League championship, and then went out and had their worst regular season in more than three decades. This year the team left Florida with a 11-12-5 record after losing Sunday’s finale, and time will tell if that performance will be remembered or forgotten by what happens over the next six months.  The season begins with four games in Los Angeles, followed by three in San Diego, before the Cardinals head to St. Louis to host the Marlins in the home opener on April 4, all without a day off. Here is my recap from spring training: CLICK HERE.

Pitchers:

On the bench will be either Carpenter or Burleson, Ivan Herrera, Brandon Crawford and Michael Siani.
