LEADOFF QUICK HITTERS

FRIDAY, SEPT. 25, 2026

The Cardinals gave up a run in the eighth inning and lost 2-1 to the Pirates Thursday in Pittsburgh. It was their 82nd loss of the season, guaranteeing the Cardinals will finish with a losing record for the second consecutive full-season for the first time since 1958 and 1959.

Their only run came on a home run by Alec Burleson, his 24th of the season, and his MLB-leading 113th of the season.

The final three games of the season will be against the Brewers in Milwaukee. Michael McGreevy is scheduled to start tonight's opener.
